How should I care for my pottery?
All of my pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven-safe. Washing pots by hand will prolong glaze life, but for everyday ware please use and care for the pots in a way that makes them most enjoyable and accessible to you.

Are your glazes safe for all foods?
Yes, I use all non-toxic materials for glazing. This choice is made to protect our health from known harmful materials that could leach while using the pots for food and drink. It also protects our environment at each stage of production. The results are a color palette of browns, grays and oranges.

Why do you use wood to fire your pots?
The alchemy of clay, wood, fire, air, and time is visible on each pot. The particular place that a pot sits in the kiln is caught in its glaze. Striking the match at midnight and feeding wood to make the rise to 2400 degrees 16 hours later, is all to see this happen. It’s exciting to open the kiln door days later when the pots still haven’t completely cooled.

When did you start making pottery?
I learned how to throw on a wheel as a teen in the early 70’s in the Twin Cities area. From there I sold my wares at Uptown Art Fair and The Renaissance Festival. At Bemidji State University I continued ceramics with Westy James and Rimas Visgirda. Farming and building and family became my life but I always made pots and fired onsite. In the last ten years I’ve become immersed in pottery again and it’s just where I want to be.
